TonyBet’s £200 Welcome Offer looked like one of the most generous new account offers about – but as an experienced matched bettor I’ve learned that lesser-known and new bookies can be a nightmare to deal with. So we’re they?
In short no. I had no problems with KYC or withdrawing. I did upload the required documents on the day of opening the account, which I recommend as it will avoid potential delays down the line.
So how did I do, and what’s involved in taking around £130 from the offer?
Nuts n Bolts of it
Well, first up this is a £200 matched deposit offer that requires you to turn over your £200 10 times to release the bonus (or free bet). So it’s perhaps not one for newbie matched bettors. But those that have a basic understanding of matched betting and also have the capital to cover the required lay bets should have few problems with this.
The key parts of the terms state:
A player will get a bonus of 100% of his/her deposit amount up to £ 200 after the deposit wagering requirements are met.
The deposit must be wagered 10x on TonyBet sports betting markets with odds of at least 1.65 within 30 days in order to receive this bonus. Only the bets which do not exceed the original deposit amount will be included in the turnover requirements.
This meant 10x £200 bets at 1.65 or above within 30 days.
Doing 10 Qualifying (back/lay) bets of £200 was clearly going to incur significant losses so I did some research using the OddsMatching tool at Profit Accumulator so to see how much these were likely to cost each and work out if the offer would be viable. I figured a loss of £5 – £10 per qualifier would actually be acceptable given I’d be getting a £200 Free Bet. Their odds appeared competitive enough to make this worthwhile.
So I actioned this during the final weeks of the football season when there was top level matches literally everyday, but at the time of writing the Euros are about the start which should again throw up lots of opportunities to find close enough odds matches with lots of liquidity on Smarkets to lay off the bets.
One Qualifier a Day
I was able to do one qualifier per day over an 11 day period, this kept meant I wasn’t using my full Smarkets Balance every day. (I typically keep around £750 to £1000 in Smarkets to cover the lay side of things)
Here’s a table detailing all of my bets with TonyBet. The first 10 are qualifiers and I’ve indicated whether they won or lost to give you an idea of how much you might need to fund the turnover requirements. As my first two qualifiers won I didn’t need to add more funds the account until after QL6 and overall I ended up needing to deposit another £300 to cover all the qualifiers. My Smarkets balance was enough to cover all of them without extra funds.
TonyBet/Smarkets odds | W/L | P/L
Qualifier 1 | 2.90/2.98 | Won | -£5.37 |
QL2 | 2.10/2.16 | Won | -£5.56 |
QL3 | 2.05/2.08 | Lost | -£2.88 |
QL4 | 3.15/3.25 | Lost | -£6.15 |
QL5 | 1.7/1.74 | Lost | -£4.60 |
QL6 | 2.65/2.72 | Lost | -£5.15 |
QL7 | 2.5/2.58 | Won | -£6.20 |
QL8 | 1.8/1.85 | Lost | -£5.26 |
QL9 | 2.8/2.85 | Lost | -£2.60 |
QL10 | 1.67/1.7 | Won | -£4.34 |
Total Qualifying Losses | -£48.11
FB £200 | 6.5/7.0 | Lost | +£157.15 |
Cashback Bonus | +£18.30
Total Profit from Offer | £127.34 |
After I did the last qualifier and it was settled I got £200 in bonus funds which I used at higher odds to get the most from the free bet. To work out the stake I again used the Oddsmatcher at Profit Accumulator and selected FreeBet (SNR) on the calculator.
It’s worth noting that thanks to the Smarkets integration within ProfitAccumulator I was able to get 0% commission which makes a significant difference doing an offer like this. (The savings in commission with 0% as opposed to 2% works out at around £25-£30 over the 10 qualifiers, again highlighting the benefit of a ProfitAccumulator membership)
Lastly, you’ll see I got a cash bonus of £18.30 – this was from their weekly 5% cashback offer. Your actual cashback will depend on how many of your bets won/lost and at what odds, but it added to my overall profit!
